This was an interesting collection of short stories. I enjoyed all of the mythology but I wish the stories didn’t just sprinkle in triggering plot lines. I would check content warnings.

I really liked this collection of short stories, perhaps better than Dream Country. There was just more to explore and think about. I especially think we see more facets of Morpheus as a character even though he is not the main character of these stories, which I think is incredible. So let's talk about some standouts:
Fear of Falling-almost spelled it Fear or Failing but honestly same thing. This one is just very comforting to me. It's such a short story, but it felt so encouraging and conveyed the idea very well. I also think it showed the function of nightmares very well and gave a glimpse of Morpehus being also our guide in the Dreaming.
Three Septembers and a January - Dream vs. His siblings would always be an interesting read. We get our first and last Emperor of the United States, and he was so content in himself that he didn't want for much else. And that was just swell how much your image of yourself can change how you view the world.
Orpheus and Thermidor- I'm lumping these two together because it's part of Orpheus' story. His story is beautiful and tragic and really delves into the topic of grief and loss and how consuming it can be. I also enjoyed how Orpheus's tale delves into his and Morpheus's relationship and his relationship with the other Endless. And how this affected Calliope's relationship with Morpehus, making her realize how much he doesn't share any part of himself. It was insightful to see his restraint play out in his personal life, but also his compassion because he does care about his son, but thinks he can't feel it too deeply. But the thought of my dad just popping into my dreams to wake my up for my wedding, hilarious but also terrifying. Also, Johanna Constantine is a badas, so there's that as well.
This collection was fun, thoughtful, dark(like all the Sandman comics, please proceed with caution), and quite enjoyable. I'm excited for the next one.
