I loved Vale and Lula. They are step siblings so if that's not something you like to read about I don't suggest reading this book. They didn't know each at all except from the letters they sent each other the year their parents got married while Vale was deployed. They never met and have never seen each other before the start of the story.

I love how protective Vale is of Lula especially against his dad and step mom(Lula's mother). I love that he got her out of that household and away from the emotional abuse. I'll never understand how any mother could body shame and belittle their own children and allow their own husband to do the same the way that Lula's Mom did to her. I'm just glad Lula was able to be true to herself despite the things her mom said to her and that she had friends that stuck with her through everything and showed her love and kindness, even before Vale got there to do the same.

Overall this was a very interesting and fast paced read easily read in just a few hours.

this isn’t my typical read, i think this is my first step sibling one (it’s by marriage, future gracie i know) but it was a lot. it’s very on the line for me, wasn’t great i was nervous the whole time. but it’s a ML navy seal (32) who falls in love with FL step sister (18)  and is obsessed with her.
