This was insane.
Literally.
It was hard to find, though it was published for free online by Wizards of the Coast about 10 years ago.
I really liked it. I'm going to have to read more by the author.

A very horrific and to-your-guts classic Ravenloft short story. Very well done, with vivid, dreadful descriptions.
