I usually get the mystery/thriller option in my Book of the Month box, but I initially skipped over this one since the premise just didn't sound that gripping. I then kept seeing good reviews, and this book stayed at the top of a lot of "most read this week" lists, so I finally broke down and gave it a chance-and I'm so glad I did. This novel is more of a slow-burn character drama rather than a mystery, so I'm not sure why it was marketed the way it was. I will definitely be checking out more of Lucy's books.

I’m not mad that I read this but I don’t know if I would call it good…

Really predictable, but still a great read.

It took a second to get into because the characters were jumping all over the place. But once the story line started to fall together, it created a murder you didn’t see coming!

A quick read, fun thriller that felt like a modern Murder on the Orient Express from the telling of multiple characters. I enjoyed the story progression and the way time seemed to fade into itself between chapters. Great ending.
Little too much in the way of white privilege drama, I had hoped more characters would die.
I imagined the author daydreaming about a celeb wedding and starting a story based on her tv fandom.

Content warnings for language, sex, drug use, and self harm.
Too much unnecessary unsavory content for my taste.
three descriptions can describe all of the characters: Poorly developed, obnoxious or self-centered.

A golden couple -- both beautiful and successful -- are hosting their wedding on secluded island. When someone turns up dead on the night of their nuptials, there's no shortage of suspects. One of the main characters is not who they appear. The story is told from the viewpoints of those whose lives have been shattered by someone who hides behind a facade of perfection and charm. And though it the pattern made it possible to predict who the majority of the victims were and the crimes against them, one or two came as a surprise, and I wasn't sure who the actual killer was until the act took place. Reminiscent of Agatha Christie, there are no tears wasted on the victim.... it couldn't have happened to a "better" person. This was a well-written, fast-paced, page turner that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.
