I expected a suspenseful mysterious crime but somehow found myself in a high school drama between adults in their 30s. The story is narrated by different characters. The plot around the crime only thickened at the end of the book. I hated the badly placed and obvious little "scares" throughout the story that felt like the author remembered every now and then that she is writing a mystery crime story and not a teenagers diary.

I could NOT put this book down. I loved the seamless storytelling of different perspectives on every chapter, and how each character's point of view intertwined with the others as the story went on. Mysterious setting with excellent plot twists; the use of the characters' past blending in with the present was very well done. I savoured the smooth reading without overanalysing the 'whodunnit' aspect, and was very excited and practically mindblowned upon reaching the climax of the book. Absolutely enjoyed myself with this one!

The twists and discoveries throughout were very well done. Wish the ending had been expanded/fleshed out a bit more.

A great thriller who dunnit, which gave me And Then There Were None vibes. This was a really enjoyable and easy read!

I did find it a bit predictable however, and I managed to guess most of the links between the people on the island before they happened. The reason for the half star though is that I honestly didn’t know who the murderer was until the last few pages, I think Foley did a fantastic job at that as well as picking up the pace.
