There were many beautiful and thoughtful passages in this book. It was very Japanese in the meditation on little details. At times it got too ponderous for me, and I didn't like the ending.

A beautiful poetic story and a family and a cat. I loved the prose of the story. I did tear up a bit there.

I honestly can’t even tell you what I just read at all. All I understand is this is about a cat who has a home but becomes part of another home and then the cat sadly dies. I was so excited to read this book and it was very disappointing xx

A gentle story about a couple who become attached to a neighbour’s cat who visits them.  The couple are brought closer together in their shared love for the cat.

The book also offers insights into Japanese real estate in the late 1980s, and the difficulties facing tenants.
