I'm a sucker for a meet-cute, and this enemies to lovers meet-cute was - ahhhh I knew from then I was gonna be a goner for their drama, and I was so right!

The mutual frustration in both povs, Ava can't stand Colton, and Colton can't even bring himself to say her name in his head

It’s the first book I read by this author and I really enjoyed the writing and the plot. The characters were well developed and the storyline was written in a way that always kept me interested and excited. I loved the male characters (Colton, Clay and Drake) and I actually didn’t hate the main female character (which is new to me). The only thing that made me not give this book 5 stars was the fact that at some point I thought the author was trying too hard to add new plots to the story…and they weren’t even necessary.. the whole pregnancy thing didn’t sit right with me, but other than that I really enjoyed reading this book and really recommend it.. 🤩

This was a fucking nightmare.
*
I don't even want to write a review but here we go.
First of all, I've had my share of bad written book but, in my humble opinion, this is the worst.
This book felt like it was written by a 15 years old and her perception of US College. But, for real, nobody acts the way the people in this universe act.
The plot felt like it had a zillion more subplots and it failed to entertain me. The writing was sloppy and the characters felt like that: characters that are put there to interact with the main characters and then they're frozen in time like fucking sims. By the way, NO COLLEGE STUDENT WILL CARE WHAT YOU DO IN A PARTY OR IF YOU'RE THROW OUT OF ONE. Nobody, zero, nada. Did this author really think that someone will not talk to another student because a fucking hockey player throw her out of a party?  This is Highschool behaviour. College is too big for us to care what other students did.
The chemestry between Ava and Colton was nonexistent, I didn't believe one second of their interactions and honestly find them annoying.
Continuing with the writing, the dialogues were aweful and again, the pace was...there wasn't. And by the way, we don't need to tell us all the titles of all the TV show, movies and songs they're liste to. I don't care that they like YOU, or they watch Zootopia and oh, magically, the enemies both like those things *roll eye*

*Sigh* *Sips coffee*
Anyway, I started reading this because it was a hockey romance and I was very dissapointed.

Colton and Ava are both in college, but on opposite ends of the spectrum. When Ava comes back to her dorm room to find her roommate taking care of 2 hockey players, she shoos them out so she can use her portion of her dorm, but not before one of the guys gets riled up.

These two were kindred spirits. Both equally untrusting of others with an unwillingness to be vulnerable and both with kind hearts who are fiercely loyal to their loved ones. There was definitely a lack of communication, but I like how it was written into the story as if they both knew the other left things unspoken because they didn't want to talk about a particular subject. At least, until the end... there were parts of their dynamic with each other I didn't mesh with, leaving me feeling like I couldn't relate to them in some of the ways they handled things, but I enjoyed their passion and their story!

Both characters were struggling with past events and it took awhile before figuring out what made them how they were. But when hearing about their past, their behavior got more understanding and it was nice to get to know them better. It just took some time before everything got clear.

The book was pretty long and I think a bit could've been cut out and wasn't completely necessary, but as a debut, it really wasn't bad or too disturbing.

I really enjoyed reading about their development and how they both learned from each other. Colton, who never dated, but wanted to be better and learn how to be a good boyfriend. Ava who dated a guy before, but needed to learn to trust someone again after her ex did her dirty and traumatized her with his actions.

This book also showed how important communication is between lovers, but also friends and family. If you don't communicate well, things are gonna be misinterpreted and mistakes are being made. Some who can take a while before they will be forgiven.

The book was fun to read and I did really enjoy it. The ending was really cute and I absolutely loved Ava's father Dax. He was so sweet and amazing. Sometimes a sweet father is what we need in a book.
