I want to preface this saying that I loved the nihilistic view the author took for this book. Sets a very realist tone that is accentuated every now and then with self-deprecating humor, or poking fun at literally anybody. With that said, it does get a bit boring when everything sucks. Everything. The air, the ground, the airconditioning, the carpet, the poor and the rich. But okay, they all suck. Sure. As I keep reading I understand why the main character is an unhappy dude. Got it.
However, life can also be beautiful. Life can give you magical things, connections, relationships. This nihilism becomes self-sabotage and this snowballs into pessimism, and the ending feeling absolutely ballistically flat. How he destroyed Priya, that was selfish and manipulative and aboslutely out of line. She wanted to live with you, my guy. She didn't want to stay there either, you were her only escape and you burned that bridge for her. Abhorring.
The last fifty pages were a roller coaster and not in a good way. It's because of these last pages that my rating went from 4.5 to 3.75.
Allow yourself happiness. Allow yourself to have it all, for once. Allow yourself to be free.
