Brilliant. Well researched and concise, not shying away from bitter truths. I want to read everything Laura Bates has ever written.

Two quotes that stayed with me:

“When we are pressured to view the heterosexual marriage as the pinnacle of achievement by a society that depends on such marriages for the unpaid labour that keeps their economies turning, then it is easy to internalise the message that finding and keeping a man is more important than how that man makes us feel.”

“Capitalism and patriarchy work together to sexualise and commodify women and then to shame women for that sexualisation so they are disempowered, thereby enabling others to capitalise on their sexualisation.”

Nothing new but still an important read and reminder on how our usual behaviour sometimes can be feeding the cycle

It’s a pretty hard read sometimes and did leave me feel a little hopeless at times
