As a modern day reader, I did not enjoy this one but I shall persist on my quest to read more classics. It may be this held more favorable reception closer to its debut but goodness it was not for me.

I could relate so much with Fanny and I loved her dearly. She is not exactly like Elizabeth or Emma, two of the most loved characters written by Austen, but she is a heroine on her own. I like how flawed, complex and intelligent she is. She likes to reflect rather than act, she is not good at arguing but, nonetheless, she is very strong. One of my favourite female characters created by Austen.
