I read this book for my class about disabilities. I was not too sure what to expect because, to be honest, before reading this memoir I had no real knowledge of the Disability Rights Movement. The book was highly informative and extremely frustrating to read. I learned so much and every moment Heumann described difficulties in her life, I could empathize with her. What I could not look past as a reader is that this book was not written in a way that evokes much emotion. Besides Heumann explaining that she felt that emotion ex. "I was angry." I don't think she is a full-time author so I don't know if I can be too harsh about it but still, not my favorite writing style.
