I went into this preparing to be Educated and Quotiented about Diversity and Respect and Multiculturalism because The Message is Important. And after about 10 pages just hearted the crap out of Kamala Khan. I wasn't certain about the whole Give It Up, Carol aspect, but if "reboot" is what they want to say and Iron Man is down, I will go with it. It also doesn't hurt that Kamala is a fangirl after my own heart.

The book is funny-- sometimes witty, sometimes cheesy. It's a great deal of backstory and characterization. There's no real big bad, but a good bit of set up for the big bad to come. This came highly recommended. And I will certainly pay that recommendation forward. Kamala Khan is a normal girl, with strictly religious parents, who just wants more likes on her fanfic, to get to go to parties, and maybe to talk to some boys. But right now she's got to embiggen her fists and smash some justice up in Jersey City. Yes!

just all around delightful. the conceit that the new ms marvel is a pakistani teenager from jersey city isn't played for shtick, but isn't window dressing either. the art from alphona is probably the standout here but the whole undertaking is sparkling. i am not a comics maniac so i dont know how slash if this is in conversation with canon or whatever else, but there is a quiet shoutout to bill & ted's excellent adventure ("strange things are afoot at the circle q"), which i approve. this strikes me as a really good series for an actual pre-teen or early teen to read and get into. because it's *not* about somber beefcake men doing hamlet with more punching but also because it *is* still compelling and legitimately surprising fun comic storytelling.

My first dip into the comic book waters. I enjoyed it. I like that the main character, Kamala Khan, is not your typical archetype for a super hero. I would totally recommend this comic to any young girls and boys in your life. I will say that is taking me some time getting used to reading and taking in all the visuals and text together. The graphics are beautifully done so you do want to take it all in. I figure I will be capable of multitasking, soon. ;)

This is my first time re-reading Ms. Marvel since the show and The Marvels came out. I love Kamala so much and just really love this series. I'm excited to continue this re-read because it's been so long and honestly it feels like I'm reading for the first time again, which is such a treat.

This is basically the first comic I’ve ever read, so I expected a lot from it, but it was very fast paced, simple, and kinda just your average superhero tale.
