When I ordered this from the library many months ago, I had completely forgotten how much was wrong with the first volume in the series. This one is slightly more interesting, but still suffers from an overload of talkiness, an underwhelming of action, a surfeit of exposition, and a slackery of characterization.

Much better then the first book. And I'm happy there is no cliffhanger even if it is an open ending.
