From start to finish, it reads like poetry! Such rich writing but still concise to where extra descriptions didn't feel like anything dragged on longer than you'd want. A really tragic but beautiful story with a lovely showing of queer love.

Gloriously written. The emotion and humanness that was imbued into this tale really enriched the often stark, bloody and factual accounts of ancient history. As a result, I was brimming with elation, biting my nails with anxiety and  crying with grief thoughout this novel. I am now very excited to read Miller's other work.

this book is so wonderful it's probably one of the best books ive read. Madine Miller is a genius and her writing is so poetic and beautiful and she can evoke emotion effortlessly. this book is a masterpiece and so emotional. the concept of the book is so interesting and beautifully written. the characters are perfect and i adore them. the ending broke my heart into a million pieces and I don't think i will ever recover but it was worth it.
