I didn’t know what to expect from this book, and struggled with the first few entries. It’s a quirky story, and one you could spend countless time analyzing. But it’s also beautiful, lyrical, and moving. The writing is meditative and warm, and for a story with such few characters, you can really feel the humanity.

I'm trying to write a one-sentence review of this for a library project and this might prove impossible to do. Piranesi is enchanting, and just as importantly disenchanting, and reenchanting in equal parts. A must-read, and a must-teach, of masterful literature.

This book was beautiful. I went into it completely blind, and I am so happy I did so. I am so satisfied with the ending and I can definitely see myself reading this again. I loved Piranesi’s spirit and I love learning about the house. Everything he wrote in his journals about the house was so beautiful. I did not realize it would be journal entries, but I liked it that way and I loved the way that the book is written. I also like how they were still conversations and it’s not just basic journal entries. I loved the mystery part of it too and the plot twists. I recommend that everyone goes into this book completely blind.
