**2023 REREAD**

This book is great. It stands up on a reread so well, and it’s also fun to see the foreshadowing and the little Easter eggs.

The plot is definitely the weakest part of the book until the last hour or so. This is definitely a romance first, high fantasy second. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll have a lot of fun!

The relationship progression is definitely fast, but I can see why. The characters in this book all deserve so much room for growth and development, and I’m excited to see it in the rest of my reread.

My original rating stands up. 4.5 stars.

Absolutely in love with this book, still some repetitiveness like the first book but the writing is so improved. The characters are so full and interesting and the overall story is emotional, tense and beautiful

I liked this so much more than the first book in the series. The descriptions of the Night Court are absolutely beautiful and makes me wish it was a real place to see. The main character Feyre feels much less self insert in this, and is dealing with the events from the first book in a very real way. The slow burn was just the right speed for the situation between her and Rhys, and the way he respects and treats her gives me the warm fuzzies. The depth of world building author Sarah does in this helps make the world more believable. Feyre keeps her kind disposition while still growing in her new life. I am actually looking forward to picking up the next one. I do have to say, for a book series known as spicy🌶️, the smutty scenes are fairly tame in this one.

This is an excellent sequel to the original book, however I felt that I was missing out on key information at parts, or that some things just didn't make much sense. Like Feyre's new abilities didn't take too long to master, or how she understood what someone meant by something but there was no explanation as to what she was understanding.

However, I ate this up. The new characters grew on me immediately- Cassian, Azriel, Mor, Amren. I fell in love with Rhysand over and over again through his and Feyre's flirting, through the ways he showed how much he cared for her well-being.

Very well thought out backgrounds to events that took place in the first book, brilliant descriptions which added to the already well established worldbuilding, drama and advernture, friendship and betrayal, trust and love and heartbreak and spice. What more could you want?

The fact that I swore I would never read this series and yet here we are rating this 5 stars?!? This was perfection. I havent been this engrossed I'm anything since twilight, which was a long long time ago 😅

Also, excuse me but Rhys??? I knew that booksta and booktok was obsessed but I stupidly thought they were exaggerating. They weren't. Rhys is literally E V E R Y T H I N G and im here for it.
