The very elements that make this production such a marvel for most are the ones that kept me at arm's length. I can't help but wonder if reading rather than listening - and thereby allowing my imagination to fill in the audio - would have allowed me to better engage with the story.

The idea of a formally inventive production intrigues, but it clashes with my personal distaste for full cast productions that aren't adaptations of actual plays. Enacting prose as dialogue nearly always injects a forced and craggy undercurrent. A single narrator slightly altering tone or pace to become different characters enables a more immersive suspension of disbelief, and in this case I couldn't help but envision a group of amateurs of varying skill passing around a mic. That's hardly fair, but it was my experience.

Obviously I am an outlier, but I take comfort in the fact I well comprehend why others are so drawn. I can speak to the appeal; I just can't count it a personal success story.

Wow... this story broke my heart into pieces. It was a very compelling, deep, and emotional ride. The topics that are covered in this story are very hard hitting and tough to discuss. I think this book did a good job handling these tough subjects in a great story-telling way.

It hit me hard, emotionally. You could feel the pain that Sadie was going through and you truly felt the love she had for her little sister. If you have a younger sister, beware this book because you will bawl your eyes out like I did. There were even a few times I had to put the book down for a moment, just so I could regroup myself. I finished this book in less than two days just because I couldn't get enough and needed to know what happened. It felt like you were watching a true crime TV show, it felt so real.

The ending... it wasn't disappointing but I definitely wanted more and I think that was the point. It killed me not to know what happened. Sadie has truly left a mark on my heart.

I received an ARC from Barnes and Noble.

This was so much better then I expected it to be. Normally I don't like mysteries because they're too slow and drawn out but the author made it a quick and easy read that I really couldn't put down once I started.

The book will officially be out in September!

This book is so overhyped but I still really enjoyed it and I really loved the writing in this book.
