"[T]ry to remember as you study that the labour of your youth will be like capital from which you can draw interest for the rest of your life.”
A little long in parts but overall a great way to engage with the tumultuous theological battles that took place in 16th century France. Looking forward to the next volume being translated.

Life as self-made nobles during the Reformation upheavals of the 16th century. Rampant inequality and precarity. An obsession with heaving bosoms!

Hooray! Set during the religious wars of France, this series has opened with some intriguing characters and some good tales of derring-do. There's a strong thread of good vs. evil, but an appreciation that it is not always easy to know. Friendships run strong. Seeds of some excellent future conflicts have been sown, and I am looking forward to reading the sequels (11 of them!)
