i am a broken husk of a person.

simply this book was rins overly detailed decent into madness (should have guessed when she started talking to dead people) but the ending excuse my language  WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. i have had my heart torn into pieces. i am in ruins.

however throughout all the stupid irrational destructive decisions she made i still absolutely adore rin as a character. these flaws in her actions are what made her seem human, but still some things were just dumb. she was a pioneer and i am
crushed that she wasnt able to finally find her happy ending.
moving on i believe the only character with any brain is kitay, and his dynamic with rin changed me. i swear girl always took advantage of him. anyway i lowk am up too late for ts.

I’m devastated. I thought I was fine until I read the epilogue and sobbed. Idk what else to say besides that this story is tragic.

What an ending to the series! I liked this book the least of the trilogy, mainly because it was hard to handle the devastation of civil war and it was harder to understand Rin's perspective (at least it was IMO). However, I did feel like there was a shred of hope at the very end, but still didn't feel like a lot. Overall, this was still very well written and showed how tough it is to attempt to maintain a country ravaged by war. I felt Kuang captured that vibe well. Great series, but a tough one to read

The book just kept me anguished but I couldn’t stop reading it. The ending was difficult, I felt nauseated, unhopeful and once again, anguished. I had to take many pauses, I could only complete it after I told my husband that I needed to share everything that was happening so I could put out my feelings. Well done, RF Kuang, I missed reading books with so well written characters and I’ll certainly miss Rin, Kitay, Venka, the Trifecta and the Cike. Now let me go grab a lighter book to read so I can emotionally recover from this.

Just really not into this series personally. This one felt like it dragged on even more than the others I was just waiting for it to be over. So violent. This one had cannibalism too. Just march, fight, repeat. Bunch of characters died. Not really sure about the ending. Overall this book is not for me.

I don’t even know what to say about this book… this entire story is so sad & challenging… I’m glad that I read it. But I’m not coming away from it wanting to recommend it to people.
Rin is such a frustrating protagonist to follow… she makes very human mistakes & I think as a reader you are not always used to your protagonist making mistake after mistake. It makes the story feel very real & raw. But I’m also upset & frustrated.
I so badly wanted these characters to have a happy ending… and I’m sure many people would interpret that they did… just after so much suffering, all I wanted was for Rin & Nezha to come back to each other in peace & love even if it was platonic… but it wouldn’t be realistic… a girl can hope though!

Devastating, heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, all the emotions. They weren’t lying about this series, an all-time fav for sure 10/10. Such an emotional journey, I loved Rin, Kitay, and Nezha. I did feel like this one dragged a little bit at times, but the ending was too much and I was devasted.

This is without a doubt the best book in the series. R.F. Kuang finally found the perfect balance between the battles and character dynamics between each other. The pacing in this one was extremely well done. Compared to the last book this one seemed to read so much easier. This book had highs and lows and it wasn’t just extreme intensity on every page. Don’t get me wrong final book definitely had it a twists and turns, but it just felt way more settled.

What an amazing ride!
