I was beyond thrilled when some old characters came back and are staying for good. They couldn't have shown up at a more perfect time to help save the shade and everyone else. Everyone at the shade just can't seem to stop getting themselves into trouble and making enemies although some past enemies have now turned into allies. This book is filled with so much action and drama. The excitement never ends at the shade.

A Bond of Blood

Pretty good, but I didn't think this one is as good as the previous ones. Hoping the next one picks up.

DNF- Lost interest part way through this story. Each book so far has had enough content for it to be its own tv episode (or 2), taking a couple hours to read. When put down you lose interest in the story, like tv again you either binge it or drop it and in the case of these books I dropped them. I liked the characters but honestly I didn’t care about them enough to carry on.

While these are not the most eloquently written, or plot driven books, they are some of my favorite books. The story is fast paced, I enjoy the characters, you never have to wait long to get into the "meat" of the story and while there is usually a main plot, it's surrounded by many sub-plots that move along quickly and keep you occupied while you're reading. I literally read this book in one day because I couldn't stop turning the pages. It's a multiple POV story and kept me gripped the whole time. If you want a quick, fun and easy read, this series is for you.

Mona (Kiev's girlfriend) is a Channeler, as revealed by the kind of 'post-script' ending. Annora put
Derek & Sofia through agony but apparently she put the same kind of blood 'bond'/curse on them that she has on Caleb, Stellan, and everyone else connected to her in the islands they control.

After seven days of being separated from the island, the Novaks will start seeing the flesh rot from them. She mentions that the "Channeler" (Mona) may have been able to keep Annora out of the Shade but she can't fix what she doesn't know exists!

Also we find that Kiev, Mona, et al, are some rag-tag group of cast-off pirates, to include werewolves (the leader being Saira), an ogre (Brett, outcast for being too soft), and Matteo Borgia, brother of Natalie, who apparently was at the mercy of the elder's like Kiev so he has accepted Kiev's slaughtering of his sister and they are in this crew together. The crew has decided to stay at the Shade, which is probably for the best considering what Annora says at the end of the series.

Rose also asks Mona to bring Caleb to her on a remote island so she can ask why he lied and took blame for kidnapping Anna and Caleb basically shuts her down cold.

Abby, after traveling with Ben to the cave where Kiev, Mona and the others were found (with Anna), realizes that she has an interest in Ben... and at the end of the book he asks her to go for a walk with him!

Also at the end of the book, Aiden finally gets up the courage to ask Adelle out only to hear her laughing at "their" lake and then hearing a second laugh.. a man's laugh.. and finds her there with his closest friend, and resident bachelor, Eli. Is it too little too late?

Kiev has a 3 part mini-series that I think I'm going to read next and I'm honestly a little annoyed that at the end of book 7 I think it was, the author said that it's basically the end of Derek & Sofia's story... because meanwhile, it's all about them (and their kids!) which I'm not complaining about I guess it's a happy surprise, annoying to feel deceived nonetheless :P

I read this book in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
I don't think I put it down once.
these books are so easy to get into and the plot is so entertaining and fast paced that I can't help but be sucked in to the whirlwind of craziness
also MY FAVE PROBLEMATIC FAVE REAPPEARED: KIEV. and he's changed, like I knew he could.
FUCK I WISH I KNEW WHAT HAPPENED. I NEED TO READ HE KIEV TRILOGY DAMNIT!
Derek slightly annoyed me in this book?!?!?!
I like Derek and Sophia better together than apart right now, plus I'm more invested in Rose and Ben and Kiev at the moment since Derek and Sophia are "happy" well, as happy can be with a spell that's going to slowly deteriorate them, but they have each other! so maybe that makes me awful, BUT WHATEVER.
also, the Novacks and the Novalics being family....CLEVER BUT SLIGHTLY TOO PERFECT
I'm okay with though. I think that Helina and Sophia will be the first ones to be friends. and I already like her.
also, pls more Abby storyline!
p.s. CALEB YOU MOTHERFUCKER I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY LETTING YOUR ONE CHANCE AT LOVE GRT AWAY. -_-
