Final Lap, Fast Track #8, By Erin McCarthy
Grade: B

“But what she hadn’t realized was that when her Cinderella was let out to the ball, she became a kinky sex goddess.”

Harley McLain has always been the good twin and it has gotten her nowhere with men. Desperate to have a man really desire her for once she switches places with her “bad” twin Charity and goes after what she wants: Cooper Brickman. For one night Harley lets loose an has the most amazing night ever but sneaks out silently in the morning knowing nothing us can happen with Cooper. Haley is shocked when Cooper starts calling her but disappointed to know its only so she can be his little sister’s nanny. Nothing living and working for Cooper, haley tries to make sure it wasn’t her he slept with and fight the feelings for him that continue to grow.

Cooper Brickman is determined to give his little sister some stability after being ditched (again) by their mother and he knows Haley is the only one who can help keep his sister in line. What Cooper didn’t expect was how fun and beautiful he finds Haley when it was Charity he liked and slept with. Cooper struggles with his feelings for Haley and how to have a relationship with her after sleeping with her sister but he is determined to once and for all get his girl.

I love the Fast Track series and am so happy with how it all finally came together. I was sad to start this book because it is the final one but excited to see the men that would be with Haley and Charity. Even though this book focuses mostly on Cooper and Haley, Charity does get a lot of facetime and we get to see her get her happily ever after. There is some overlapping that occurs between this book and Full Throttle so I highly recommend reading all the books in order to avoid any confusion on what is and has been going on.

I really liked Harley and it was fun to watch her become more confident and go after what she really wanted. Cooper was fun but he wasn’t my favorite of the Fast Track men and I think that mostly has to do with how he dealt with his feelings for Haley before he found out it was really her he slept with. The book takes a turn for the better after the twin switch is revealed and that’s when the book gets really good (can’t put down good). By the end of the book Haley and Cooper turned into one of, if not the best couple of the series.

In this book we get to see what has happened with all the couples from previous books and it was very fun to catch up with them. This was a great way to end a fun series and I am so happy with how everything turned out. I can’t wait to see what great things Erin McCarthy has planned next!

I didn't realize this was part of a series when I agreed to read and review it, but I still enjoyed it. FINAL LAP has all of the Erin McCarthy elements I've come to enjoy from her previous books: Witty banter, engaging characters, with an entertaining storyline and just the right amount of steam.

Fans of the series are sure to enjoy this one!

I read all of the Fast Track books, and I have to say Erin McCarthy saved the best for last. I absolutely loved Cooper and Harley and thought their story was bothering sweet and sexy. It's so sad that this was the final book, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.

A nice conclusion to the series. I always appreciate it when authors know how to say when on their series.

“You seem very maternal and stable.”
Ouch.
Harley is used to guys not seeing her as the sexy one, the hot one, the one to seduce.
And it just seems like Cooper is not different than all the other douches.

Writing style?
Enjoyed it :D Just the right amount of everything: dialogues, thoughts, minor characters,...

Story?
Liked it.
Two twin sisters swapping makes for a great story.
With a hint of drama, a hint of jealousy and protectiveness as well as lots of love.

Characters?
I disliked Coop a bit in the beginning but fortunately that changed when we got his version of the events. He's a great big bro. Sure, he has no idea how to really connect with his sister in the beginning but I like that he really tries then and actually cares - a lot.
Plus, as a boyfriend he seems to be pretty awesome.

Loved Harley, though. Loved that she isn't just this timid and shy girl but really has a lot of sass and can be a wildcat as well :D

Minor characters?
MJ!!
Love that girl. I think.
Yeah, okay, not sure about her. It was just so disappointing that she could just do whatever she wanted and her brother never interfered... I'm just not sure if a 13 year old should be allowed to have that much freedom when it comes to the internet. Sure, it's mentioned that Harley starts to intervene here and actually checks what she's doing but still... didn't have a good feeling there. A talk between her and her brother would have been nice.

In other reviews, people have written they are disappointed that all the other characters from the previous books don't get much page time. And yeah, that might be true but I think we still get to know something new about them and actually do get a glimpse into their futures, just as we get with Harley and Charity.
So, that didn't bother me at all. I actually enjoyed the way McCarthy dealt with it, including them in the story and not devoting a entire chapter to just them. Would've interrupted the storyline, I think, but yeah...
