This was really cute but definitely written for a YA audience. I wish there was more depth to the experiences and side characters Lina encounters. The romance felt a little forced and insta-lovey (this whole book takes place over like a week??)- the pacing could have been a lot more believable. I loved the backdrop of Italy and while the mystery of Lina’s parentage and her mother’s experiences were predictable, it felt realistic and also fulfilling to come to a conclusion in the end. Lina was a bit stubborn to not treat Howard like a father figure at first which was a little frustrating to read. Overall, one of the best YA romances I have read but lacked some depth.

The start of the book was not what I expected, but I really liked where it was going. Love the setting and that it takes place in Florence.
It's more a journey of finding out more about her mother and her time in Florence through her journal, then a romance story.
It reminds me of the book 13 little blue envelopes which I loved.

My overall rating for romance is 💖💖 This is an adorable Summer coming of age with a mix of romance. I didn't want to put it down, even in the heaviest parts because I needed to know what happened next. Some parts were pretty predictable though.

• Friends to lovers
• Lost love
• Family secrets
• Summer romance
• Summer trip
• Self-discovery
• Unexpected feelings
• Family by choice

AAAAA READ THIS BOOK!!!!!! Lina and Ren had AMAZING chemistry throughout the whole book! Also, I loved the drama of that journal. I read this with my friend as a buddy read which made it more fun. So fun to talk about the book while reading it. ANYWAYS!! If you are looking for a fun YA book to read over the summer, I would recommend this ALL THE WAYYY!! Such a cute book. Only complaint is that it took about 110ish pages for me to really get into it.
