Not exactly original or unique but a fun read and does what it sets outs to do very well

Technically a 3.5 because the art is ugly and I couldn't tell who some of the characters were

Be careful because they renumbered these graphic novels for the Netflix release. Vol 1 and 2 of The NETFLIX EDITION of Jupiter's Legacy is actually Jupiter's Circle.

I enjoyed this book but didn't love it. Straight up superhero drama reminiscent of The Watchmen though it doesn't deconstruct the genre in the same way.

Loved this, great human interest story. Sometime comics are great with a bit of physical and lots of emotional stress!!!

V. 1-> 4 (no spoilers)

Again, I saw the show before reading the books, but that's okay haha.
I quite liked the story, the graphics are really interesting. And above all, the comics answered the questions I had about the serie !
If I understood correctly (I have to check), there is a sequel, I will have to look to that !
Be careful not to put them in all hands !

It's interesting how the art in this prequel series is kinda retro and cartoony, to fit the time period the story takes place but that's basically the only interesting thing about this book.

3 stars might be generous tbh, hoping Jupiter’s Circle 2 is a lot better. Usually enjoy my time with Mark Millar’s work a lot more than I did with JC.

Jupiter's Circle is a prequel series to Jupiter's Legacy. It reminds me of George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards series or a less dark version of The Watchmen. It blends the idea of superheroes with a realistic setting, pitting them against issues that readers can identify with. Although this is related to the Legacy series, it isn't necessary to read that one to enjoy this.

The character interactions are the biggest driving force in this book. There isn't a villain or big event that the heroes need to tackle. Instead, they are just living their lives. They have families and struggle with government regulation. These aren't new topics to comic books, but Millar's writing is fantastic and brings a fresh look at these type of characters.

The art contributes a lot to the book. It goes a long way to create a feeling for the time period (1950s? America). I like the way the characters are portrayed through both the writing and the art.

An interesting start! I might have to keep an eye out for the next volume. I liked this a lot better than Watchmen, but it has a similar real-life-superheroes-in-the-Fifties vibe to it, while being a lot less depressing. It also features a number of queer characters, which is all to the good. I was a little fuzzy on what each character's powers were, though.
