Having read Poe’s works many years ago and new to Manga Classics, I was interested to see how the stories of Edgar Allan Poe could be interpreted. I was pleasantly surprised how well two formats worked and have been combined lovingly with the 5 stories of Poe presented with the respect they deserve by the different artists tasked with interpreting them.

I think it will be appreciated more by those who are fans of manga and graphic novels, hopefully introducing Poe to them for the first time and creating new fans of such an influential writer.

As for fans of Edgar Allan Poe like me, it just encouraged me to go back and read the stories again after such a long time.

Basically, a win for all readers.

Five of Poe's stories are turned into manga in this volume. The gothic and horrific atmosphere of his writings are perfectly translated in black & white ink. And while the art-style fits greatly, producing some of the most chilling and powerful scenes I have read lately, I can't help but wonder if they would be even more astounding in color.

This was a fascinating way to read a classic, while I'm not a fan of realistically drawn mangas, I thought it worked well for the manga. This contains one of my favorite Poe stories, The Telltale Heart, as well as, The Cask of Amontillado, The Raven, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Masque of Red Death. My main problem was that it's written in the same language that Poe originally wrote it. When I read manga, I usually can finish them rather quickly, but with this one, it took a while because you have to take the time and to let the writing sink in so that you can understand what's going on. I wish that there was some aspect that was modernized, either the dialogue or the boxes that describe what's going on.

I have always loved Edgar Alan Poe and his dark settings. This collection was everything I had hoped for and more. It had amazing artwork and kept the story perfectly in check!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for proving me an eCopy of this fantastic manga in exchange for an honest review.

I'm an avid fan of both manga and Edgar Allan Poe. Combining the two of them together makes for one thrilling literary journey.

The stories of Edgar Allan Poe manga contains one of E.A.Poe's poems (the Raven) and 4 of his short stories:
- the Tell-tale Heart
- the Cask of Amontillado
- the Masque of the Red Death
- the Fall of the House of Usher

I devoured this manga in less than an hour. It's an exceptionally easy read and I'm pleased that the original text has been retained.
As far as the artwork goes, the drawing style was different for each story. My personal favorite was the art style that was used for the Fall of the House of Usher.

The eerie atmosphere of E.A.P was perfectly captured in all of the stories.

I strongly recommend this for manga fans or anyone else who is open to exploring manga.

Good adapting of some classic stories, what I liked about them is that they brought the original copy and adapt it which makes it still feel classic regardless the modern Japanese art.

The art, expressions and all are at point and really suitable for the horror of Edgar's. Had to use Old English dict alot, I could guess some but not all.

{My thoughts} – I have never really been a huge fan of Edgar Allan Poe. However, with that said. I really enjoyed reading through this book. The illustrations seem to portray every creepy and icky feeling that you get when reading some of his work. This book successfully made me feel like I was being creeped out throughout it’s pages.

As, I have stated I am not a big fan, but those that are, I really think will enjoy this book. There is so much to enjoy from the creepy text, too the eerie almost unsettling illustrations. I can see this book having a large appeal with readers that enjoy this kind of read.

If you like to read eerie and be creeped out when reading, this is the perfect book for you! I am sure that you too will feel all the same emotions I’d encountered as I was reading. There are so many and the illustrations help to portray them so nicely. It’s definitely in my opinion if anything a once and a lifetime kind of read. I just don’t recommend reading after dark!

I read all these stories as a child, but reading them in Manga format really put a unique spin on them. The Raven is particularly powerful in this medium. This adaptation uses Poe's original text, just adding in pictures. Atmospheric and fun!

It's been many years since I read these stories by [a:Edgar Allan Poe|4624490|Edgar Allan Poe|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1454522972p2/4624490.jpg], and I have to say that I enjoyed reading this manga adaptation. The illustrations help creating an even more sinister atmosphere, and the stories' adaption are quite faithful to the originals.

In my humble opinion, I think this is a good way to invite readers to get close to Poe's tales. Therefore, they can get curious enough to try the originals.

Thanks to UDON Entertainment and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review.
