I really liked this book through about 60% ... then it felt like the author either: 1. got bored and needed to wrap it up, 2. decided to rewrite a chunk and not actually do it, leaving a hole, or 3. couldn't decide on an ending and randomized tropes on a spinner wheel. The first book in this series is tight, reasonably well-plotted, and has a believable ending. This started out so strong, with a FMC who is keeping her walls up because of loads of baggage and a MMC who hyper-focuses on saving people he loves to avoid processing his own baggage. They are instantly attracted and can't help but act on it.
Once the drug-addict ex-boyfriend showed up and was more than just a passing mention/interaction, I had concerns. An attempted drug plant, lack of actual communication and an accidental pregnancy just made this fly off the track.
I *may* attempt another book because I enjoy the broader cast of teammates ... but I will be cautious.

Full Rating (out of 10 possible): 5.857 (based on a modified CAWPILE system)
Romance level (out of 5 possible): 4 (for on-page, detailed intimacy scenes)

Sawyer
By Samantha Whiskey

**I received this book as an ARC for my honest review**

If you love Hockey romances Samantha Whiskey is someone you have to read! I have read the complete Seattle Shark series and the first of Carolina Reapers. And let me tell you, Sawyer did not disappoint! She writes amazing hockey romances!

I was surprised to see that Sawyer's book was the next in the series, I hoped he would get one after his appearance in the Shark series. And Oh I have been hoping that Echo got with a Reaper since I first saw her in Axel's book. I love her sass, her wit and the way she bantered with everyone.

The friendship and fireworks that hit between Sawyer and Echo was easy, it flowed and was so natural. Echo who had had so much loss in her life was afraid to take the chance to give her heart to Sawyer so she told him friends with benefits. Her two rules were Sawyer had to be faithful and not fall in love with her.

Well yes, that was blown out of the water. There are so many scenes in this book that made me laugh and even cry a bit. I give this book five stars and can not wait for the next one.

Two Jagged Puzzle Pieces That Fit Perfectly
Sawyer and Echo are opposites but they say opposites attract right? Only Sawyer’s present and Echo’s past colliding threatens everything they’re trying to build. For Echo, she sees Sawyer as the sweet boy next door. In Sawyer’s eyes, Echo is the independent, hard shelled sex goddess who’s a walking temptation. But, surprises await them both when there’s a different side neither has ever seen of each other. Sawyer unveils this uber sexy alpha male, while Echo shows a softer side. There’s the bromance, family and team camaraderie that Samantha Whiskey excels at to make you feel like more than just a reader. Sawyer is steamy, funny, sweet, entertaining with some unexpected twists but it couldn’t be more perfect for Sawyer and Echo! I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

I'm feeling so content right now.
Every time I read Samantha's work I want to skip adulting and just devour her book. So I did exactly that today. I'm not even sorry- it was so totally worth it.
This lady has some serious voodoo magic in her books that makes me love every single one of the guys- again, I'm not sorry. They are all totally swoon worthy and give me ALL THE FEELS.
Echo, I think she is one of my favourite heroines. Feisty, smart, gorgeous and a little crazy. Her random facts and banter with Sawyer had me grinning like a kid in a candy store and at one point I even spat my coffee everywhere
