I didn't realize this was the same guy who wrote The Martian. If you liked that, you'll almost certainly be on board for this one.
Minus a half-star purely because I was disappointed by the ending. I'm sure many (if not most) would disagree with me there.

Also this is just a me thing, but Stratt was the most compelling character in this book and I need a story about her life on Earth after the book starts. Although I think that book would be a fundamentally different genre, I’d read tf out of that book. Or even a story about Rocky prior to meeting Grace bc Rocky was the best part of this story.
Moderate: Medical trauma and Fire/Fire injury

Even though the book is very scientific and has a lot of the jargon that I don't really understand, I wasn't too lost. I think that goes down to Weir's ability to simplify it.
I really liked Stratt- everything she does feels consistent in her character.

In the past timeline, there have been annoying stereotypes about other nationalities.
But the ending had a few things going for it: I liked the way the past timeline ended (the final reveal), and I liked the (sort of) open ending. Also, the ending had a sort of circularity, which was interesting but not the strongest point of the book.
