After really enjoying volume 1, and loving volume 2, volume 3 kept bringing me terrific comic book snacks to wolf down.
Let's start with the art - some of the best I've seen in a comic book. The mood it conveys is beautiful, slightly otherworldly and lush, but also delivers on that fantasy element in comics where all the main characters are super-hot and frequently nekked (or half-nekked). Happy days. But then, something nasty crops up and it's really fucking creepy. Genuinely a bit unsettling.
The plot pacing is really steady and I was excited and tense about what would happen next. I found myself caring about the characters - even though they are not, honestly, that well-rounded. That might bother some but it didn't matter for me. It's a cool fantasy crime horror comic and the level of depth was fully enjoyable.
This volume came out a few months back and at the time of writing there don't appear to be any issues out beyond what is included in this volume. Fingers crossed there is soon.
It's another win for Rucka (Lazarus/Stumptown) and a huge one for Nicola Scott. I read a short interview with her about this and she really wanted to explore more technique than they pencils she's usually busy with at DC so I hope she's happy with it.
Great.

Beautiful art
Compelling storyline
A little drawn-out but the creepiness of the story is unquestionable.
I had hoped for more closure with the book but it appears there is much more still to come.
Perhaps an opportunity for a re-read at a later date, prior to the next chapter, which wouldn’t be a bad thing

Holy shit. When does the next volume come out? I sure hope it’s before 2024.

Black Magick and sex go together so we get a fair share of both here. Sadly, there's not much story progression (ok, not entirely fair, but compared to the first two vols. things did slow down).
But hey, it's still Rucka and the art is gorgeous. I'm here for the next part of the story!

Rucka and Scott's witchcraft/cop dramas and bleep hits the fan. We get relationship drama (not entirely sold on it), IA looking into Chaffey and Rowan, hunters, demons, witches, and more. Rowan continues to be tempted but she might have finally found her breaking point. The story was very good but, as always, collections should have a recap page. The standout though, as always, is the art by Nicola Scott. She's a goddess. Overall, a very good paranormal mystery book.

I'm gonna be honest, I loved the ramp up in pace in Vol. 2 but this was break-neck speed after a time jump....was wild.
