Animals suddenly have human-like consciousness and the story centers around a girl and her beloved dog, sign me up. Especially when there's kolas with guns.

This was pure magic. The art was glorious and the story brutal. I was laughing, upset, and had to read it like my life depended on it! I will most certainly be following this tale and looking forward to what the future holds in this world of Animosity!

All the animals in the world suddenly becoming sentient sounds like a cool idea for a story, right? Well, this take on the concept did not speak to me. There are some good moments, particularly involving Jesse and Sandor. Plus the art as a whole is pretty good. I didn't care for the way the story plays out though. It felt like as soon as this event, known as The Wake, occurs, every creature on Earth decides they have to kill each other.

Not that there isn't justification for the hatred that all the animals show toward humans, and some reasons for it are shown. I think it rushed into things. I would have liked to have seen a couple more moments from before The Wake to give some more impact to what is shown afterward. Because it went into the conflict so quickly, I got turned off of the book early on and found it hard to enjoy some of the character moments that come out later on. I will not be continuing this series.

One day, all of the animals of the world wake up to human level consciousness, and most of them turn to violence against their human oppressors. Humans reel in the aftermath of this complete overturn of the world as we've known it. A few animals stay loyal to their human families, and this story follow one of them- Sandor, an elderly bloodhound, who promises his 11 year old human Jess that he will keep her say and travel with her across the country to find a half brother she has never met. Fast paced and thought provoking, the first of a ongoing series.

Highly creative premise. I wish more of the ins and outs of this new world were explored more. Also, I feel like this story is going to eventually throw dust in my eyes.

Animals "wake up" and begin talking; and conquering the world.

A humpback whale bursts through the water and screams "HUMPBACK WHALE" because it's trying to be a Pokemon.

A pelican starts grabbing smartphones and screams "JUST YOU FUCKING WAIT 'TIL I HAVE THUMBS!"

Read those two sentences. If you think that sounds stupendous, this book is for you. If you think that sounds horrible, stay away.

Premise: animals suddenly gain human-level consciousness and intellect. The story revolves around a bloodhound and his girl as they try to find her only living relative across the country. It's pretty campy, and there are some bad jokes, but on the whole the series looks like it has enough heart to have real promise.
