Not a bad collection. The tales could be rather episodic, but certainly rang true as fairy tales with their litanies of brave princes, magical horses, lovely princesses, abusive kings, hidden treasures, and charmed objects.

An edition with John Batten's illustrations is recommended.

Again, how do you go about rating a collection of traditional folk and fairy tales? How does one rate the roots of culture?

I really liked reading the Indian versions of the same type fairy tales I grew up with in the States.
