Enjoyed this even more than the first one. Looking forward to the next on coming out in the new year!

Oooh I liked “The Water Spirit” way more than “The King of the Birds.” Thankfully it picks up right where we left off!
This one follows the Merchant again and tells the tale of how he accidentally promised his son to Vodyanoy, the Water Spirit. His son is given nine years before he must return to Vodyanoy’s kingdom. The nine years pass quickly and along his journey he runs into strangers who help him: Vasilisa and Tyna. Tyna, who turns out to be Vodyanoy’s daughter.
The plot in this story felt more straightforward than the last. It was well-paced and kept the same whimsical, endearing tone as the first. I like the pivot to being about the Merchant’s son, and we met new characters than will continue to be important, I’m sure.
