When the Chekov’s Gun is a pink butt plug and matching pink kitty ears. Sigh. If there’s a heaven, I’m not going there.

Meeeeeeh, this was such a let down. Too much of a let down for a book cover so hot.

I'll keep it short because I don't have much to say about this book except that the FMC is probably one of the fictional ladies I hate the most, topped only by The Selection's America Singer.
If you know me and my reading history, you'll realize that's saying a lot.
Cheryl (and her friends, if I have to be completely honest) made me wanna throw the book out the window every time she had a POV or every time she opened her ficitonal mouth.
She kept insisting poor Patrick Normal is too young for her, that he's immature, but she was the one with the maturity level of a tadpole and the emotional range of a cihuahua on crack.
I hated how she treated him and hated how he couldn't just tell her to go to hell and get himself a good girl who didn't toy with him the way Cheryl did.
Patrick was okay and I liked how he eventually showed his wild side once he and Cheryl started sleeping together, but that was it.
Emotionally speaking, they gave me almost nothing. Their chemistry just wasn't there and the progression of the romance felt completely unrealistic.
At least the smut -some of it- was good?

So there aren’t really spoilers but tagging this just in case:

Book 3 in this series was my first Eve Dangerfield book and I’ve been waiting for this one ever since! Phew no one can write surprisingly scorching spice like Eve!

I really enjoyed this story, but best friends to lovers is not typically my favorite trope because the push-pull generally drives me bonkers, and this relationship definitely fell into that trap for me. But darn it if Patrick wasn’t the sweetest, dirty mouth golden retriever that totally won me over.

I love flawed and realistic character, but did find Cheryl a bit aggravating at times, BUT that’s also a hallmark of a great story that has fully sucked you in because I really wanted to be in the book with her to shake some sense into her earlier

I was so excited when I heard Eva dangerfield was writing their story.

It was as you would expect - smutty but also surprisingly emotional understories for both characters.

Also good that the characters from previous books of the series made regular appearances.

Can be read as a standalone, but would highly recommend reading whole series

God this was a hot book! This was beautiful friends to lovers story with an age gap and definitely some kinks. You fall instantly for the MMC and cross your fingers the whole time for the happy ending he deserves. Such a great read looking forward to more from Eve Dangerfield.

Back Into It was my first book by Eve Dangerfield. I felt that for this book the main story line was really good. There was a lot of push and pull between Cheryl and Patrick between their friendship and him wanting more from her. Cheryl's life is a hot mess and I am so glad that she has friends like Eden and Mara to help guide her through everything. She has a hard time letting people in, and Patrick was the one person that put her in her place and made her be honest and not run. I think that both of the characters grew through the story with some back steps, but baby steps is all that matters. There were hot steamy moments between these two and while I like a good smut book, there was a few too many for me in this one.

Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from Eve Dangerfield and ValentinePR.
