 couldn’t put down Slewfoot by Brom! It’s got everything—Puritans, folklore, demons, and a badass woman fighting back against injustice. The way religion is used to justify awful treatment and how social hysteria takes over is so intense. Plus, the illustrations are gorgeous. I don’t usually go for horror, but I wanted to try something new, and now I want to read all of Brom’s books. Heads up though, it gets pretty gory, so be prepared!

A perfect spooky read, especially for those who are interested in the Salem Witch Trials. Brom’s incorporation of pagan mythology and the witch trials conducted by the puritans made this such an interesting story. I absolutely couldn’t put it down.

Basically, I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow for my taste, and I kept looking at the page count wondering how much longer until it ends. It’s well written and the characters are complex. Not something I would read again.
