Terrible and I hated it. Disgusting over-the-top cruelty. Not a satisfying climax at all. Misogynistic throughout. The book is written as though the writer expects the reader to be stupid. One of the most ridiculous parts happens when the protagonist in a position of authority dictates to a mother that she needs to stop her son from attending therapy, when this man has no medical credentials and has met this child for about five minutes. A man who, from the sound of it, could definitely benefit from some therapy. The writer also expects us to believe this man functions, has expert critical thinking and problem solving abilities on 2-3 hours of sleep every single night…
The book is padded out with the two cops going back and forth any time they figure out a new part of the puzzle first, “Can’t you see it? It’s obvious!” “No.” “What do you mean, are you stupid? It’s right there!” Even though they’ve both been stuck. Useless, boring, I’m going to burn this book so no one else has to read it.

This book took itself so seriously, yet most of the characterization didn't make sense, nor did a bunch of the actions by characters. It felt like it was written with the main purpose being very disturbing torture scenes, everything was added just because those couldn't be published on their own. These detectives are supposed to be so smart, best of the best, yet all the important questions flew right over their heads.
the 'iam death' - 'i mat hade' this was SO stupid lmao
