Wrecked by Lauren Asher

My first dnf book, probably in a long time.
The book is supposed to be in a Formula 1 setting, but it didn't capture the excitement and intensity of the sport. There is no such racing going on, to be honest; they are just jumping from one country to the next, and that's pretty much how the author approaches the storyline. The lack of detailed race descriptions and thrilling moments on the track left me feeling disappointed. Maybe because I read this after Chasing Daisy by Paige Toon, which I did not like, but it had more engaging race and paddock scenes and a stronger connection to the Formula 1 world. There is literally nothing i remember being mentioned about the actual racing in this book. Also! The MC, who's supposedly had to handle the PR for her racer, didn't do any of her actual work except tell the driver to not do this and that—don't drink, don't party—I mean, I get it; that was also part of taking care of the image, but is that it? Or maybe I am just ignorant of how pr things work, but as a reader, it confuses me. It didn't satisfy me at all. Although I appreciate that the characters have more complexity, The author delves into their personal lives, relationships, and struggles, but other than that, the book really felt short for me, anddd that is why I DNFed it.

WOW! Lauren really outdid herself with this book. It was so much better than the first two books and I really enjoyed it. "Wrecked" literally wrecked my heart in best possible way and I really didn't expected this to be such a bittersweet and a heartwarming story.

Wrecked is the third book in the Dirty Air series. It is an enemies to lovers, F1 sports romance with so much tension, angst, forced proximity, and healing.

This book is about anxiety, healing and just knowing that life is fucked up at times and instead of trying to be in denial about it you should try your best to live your life the fullest. You know when you are reading a book and you just know these two characters are meant to be? That was the case with Elena and Jax. They were basically MADE for each other, put on the book world to find the other so that they can help, guide and fall in love together.

Plot:

Elena Gonzalez is a PR agent and had worked closely with Liam previously. Now, a year later, she is hired by McCoy once again, except this time, she is contracted to be a private PR rep for Jax Kingston due to his most recent actions of passing out in a club restroom. She is to be with him for the season to keep an eye on him and to help make his presence in the media positive. But there is a catch she must be with Jax at all times, including living together. He pushes against her at every turn when she intervenes and tries to help him. Only she doesn't know what she's up against. All she knows is that he is struggling with something mentally in which he keeps a secret from everyone, even his closest friends. The more time that Jax spends with Elena, the more he realizes that he wants to know more about her. But how close is he willing to let her get? Will he let her get close enough to him that he shows his most vulnerable moments and the secrets he hides away from the world?

My thoughts:

The start was heartbreaking with Elena losing so much when she was just a kid. I loved the way Lauren used the depression and anxiety rep and didn't try to use it just for the sake of plot. The way the characters helped each other heal was everything. It was messy and heartbreaking so many times but definitely worth for Jax and Elena's story.

This was an enemies to lovers, their sexy banter

I love this book and Jax so much it hurts.

I eventually thought Jax would be an asshole with tattoos and an attitude but he proved me completely wrong.

He's the best character of the whole series.
And I just want to hug him once.

This was such a beautifully written book.
I loved the writing style, the plot, the characters and the story.

Jax and Elena are sweethearts and I want nothing but happiness for them.

Love them<3

I really like that there's some type of disability at 1 part of this book and that they Adopt kids so that his disability gives him as much time with them as he can get.
