Eden moves to Colorado to escape a trauma from her past, and quickly falls in love with the attractive business owner next door.
I think I went into this book expecting a romance, and instead got contemporary fiction focusing on trauma and healing, with a small side of romance? That’s fine, generally, but not what I was expecting and definitely affected my overall perspective of the book.
I also struggled a bit with the pacing of this one—it moved quickly in some aspects but also felt like the main conflicts in the plot got resolved very early and the reader was left with a drawn out resolution.
All of this said, I know many people have loved this one and I appreciated the way it dealt with complicated trauma and healing! If you’re interested in it, I would still say it’s worth the read.
As always, excited to discuss this one with my book club for our October meeting!
Recommended if you like: contemporary fiction; books about healing; strong friendship side plots
CW: Child abuse/pedophilia; domestic abuse; sexual assault; panic attacks
