"Almost every girl goes through this weird living nightmare, where you show up at school and realize people have grown to hate you overnight."

Decent, with some really good nuggets of career/ life advice. This is more an autobiography of her life over anything else. I still prefer Mindy Kaling's book!

One of the best comedy memoirs I have read. It didn't try to be overly funny and did it in an understated way. The writing is honest and has personality that is different than her acting in subtle ways.

When I thought I couldn't love it more, she thanked Dolly Parton for no apparent reason.

I was sometimes amused, and I like Amy a lot. However, stories about this great sketch ("bit"?) she did this one time get old pretty fast. I like a book punctuated by lists, but none of her lists really resonated with me (even though I'm a person who got divorced!). Meh.

Okay, so I know I'm biased here, but I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I enjoy Amy's voice (both writing and speaking), and the guests are fun. I am curious, though, what this book is like without the audio component. I mean, I'm sure it's still wonderful, but there are definitely things that are said that wouldn't have been said the same way in my head, and that makes a world of difference.

Anyway, though, I had a really great time listening to this, and it makes me want to listen to other memoirs. If only I had more frequent longer drives....

This really was a 2.5/5 stars book for me. I like Poehler, and sometimes she would write the most poignant and beautiful lines, but often it felt like too much rambling and discussion about nonsense. I think a series of letters/articles might have been a better fit. For someone who is a fan though, this is an entertaining and quick read.
