I'm certain this was assigned reading in high school, but I didn't read it then. I read to my eight-year-old. We both thoroughly enjoyed the story of the bond between a boy and his dog. We both cried at the end.

I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. I grew up watching the Disney movie and wasn't super impressed. It wasn't until recently that I found out that the movie was based on a book. I was intrigued and decided to give it a try. It took me one day to read and I couldn't put it down. Where it lacked description, it made up for in heart.

Believe me when I say that I'm not a dog person. But this book really is a classic.

This was such a heartbreaking pleasure of a read! I honestly do not know why I’ve never read this before! The film was great but the book was such an enjoyable experience and highly recommend it!

It was a very relaxing listen and it made me think about the old west as a book genre to be enjoyed and maybe a movie genre to be watched as i was never really into any thing like that before. The book itself was a really relaxing read that made me care deeply for all the characters especially old yeller
and it made me emotional when he died though it was so sudden it felt unfair.
I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in a short fun emotional read that’s interesting and enthralling
