This was my first M/M romance and it was just wonderful. Nesto and Jude were so sweet (and hot) together; I loved watching their relationship grow. Also loved the discussion of food and culture, representation of the day-to-day struggles immigrants face, and the community and family Adriana Herrera created around the two main characters. I'm definitely intrigued to read the rest of the series and get to know the other friends' stories as well!
Very mild spoiler:
One of my favorite things about this story was that the relationship conflict, though influenced by external events in the characters' lives, was ultimately internal to the relationship between Nesto and Jude. It felt grounded in something that could very much happen in real life. I also appreciated that the "grand gesture" at the end, though it certainly was a gesture, felt absolutely in line with Nesto's character and was ultimately about showing up for somebody in a very real way. I often struggle with the outlandish ways many romance novels end, and this was refreshing and so so great.
Very mild spoiler:
