This was quite possibly my favorite Miles book yet. Lots of character growth for Miles, more of Ekaterin (whom I love), and a whole bunch of viewpoint characters that were really fun. Highly recommend (though this is one book that does not stand alone, so better to at least read Komarr before this one if you have been jumping around the chronology of the series).

There's a trans-related subplot in this book, and I was really happily surprised by how well the it was handled. YMMV, and there is some major transphobia from some characters, but as a trans reader I was really delighted by this subplot and its resolution.
