They did not have me going in the first half, but I’m stubborn and kept reading. Then, for about 60 pages in the middle, they had me, hook, line, and sinker. And then they lost me again.

Hazel, as much as she tries, is just a normal girl. Not super quirky to me, but very relatable, and society trashes her unfairly. Josh’s only descriptor to me is
Spoiler“in love with Hazel.”
Spoiler I can’t tell you another thing that happens to him in this book. He seems sort of flat, which is nice if you want a male love interest who is just there to be the love interest.

that book was underwhelmingly mediocre for me. it was just okay. and the ending just felt like it was tossed together at the last minute.

I did not expect it to be this good but I’m not disappointed at all. I’m so glad I read this and would 100% recommend!!

josh and hazel's guide to not dating was so so cute. i loved hazel's crazy moments, loved the way josh loved hazel's natural excessiveness, loved the friendship, loved (most of) the crazy dates, and the epilogue! i love how playful hazel and josh are. i love that hazel's a teacher and that she is unabashedly herself. i love the way josh comforts her and wants to be with her, the way he cares for her and watches out for her. i love both of their relationships with their parents (although, hazel's relationship with her mom is featured more prominently than josh with his parents). i love winnie the poodle, vodka the parrot, janis hoplin the rabbit, and daniel craig the fish! and ugh, it was so endearing and made for a wonderful read!!

but, not gonna lie, i felt a bit weird whenever hazel mooned over josh/ jimin when he spoke korean or she couldn't pronounce his name properly as vicky said in her review (i really hope she was genuinely trying). overall though, very cute! makes me very gigil as the pinoys go and i have the urge to go and watch some pinoy romcoms because of this!
