I lost count of how many times I cried. Four? Five? Gosh, this was so wholesome and wonderful and beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. I never knew how things were gonna play out and definitely didn't expect to shed so many tears.

To be honest, I felt like a fraud while reading an ARC because I've never read What If It's Us. In fact, I've never read anything by Becky Albertalli or Adam Silvera. But consider me a fan now because this YA romance is EVERYTHING.

And if I loved this so much despite reading it on a clean slate without any backstory, I can't imagine how fans of the first book would feel with all their emotional investment.

Anyway. This book can definitely be read as a standalone because it is very detailed and provides a lot of backstory, such that you have a pretty good idea of what happened in What If It's Us and can follow this sequel easily. But of course, you should read in order if you can!

I would love to see a spin off for Mario and Mikey. I adored them and felt so bad for both of them, especially Mikey!

Also, that reference to "that YA book where everyone dies at the end" is perfection.

Seriously, now I'm questioning myself about how I have never read anything by either of these authors before. Brb off to change that.

Favourite quotes:

✨ "This is every relationship. You start with nothing and maybe end with everything."

✨ "I'm being catapulted to memory lane at a time when I'm trying to go down new paths."

✨ "Happiness is tricky when it comes to the person who used to make you happy."

✨ "I just don't know how to be friends with him when we never got to be friends first."

✨ "People don't warn you that heartbreak is a chronic condition. Maybe it quiets down a little over time, or you can muffle it with distance, but the ache never quite dials down to zero. It's there lurking in the background, ready to flare back up the minute you let your guard down."

✨ "Sometimes happily ever afters aren't about your happiness at all."

✨ "There's no epilogue where we get together."

✨ "Because for me, it's always you. You're the point of every story."

I received an e-ARC of this book via Netgalley.

Was a good book, very cute. Was nice to follow Ben and Arthur's story after the first book leaving it on such a cliff hanger!

Spoiler The plot was overall good, and I enjoyed how the story progressed. However I do feel I missed out on some Dylan and Samantha's storyline although that could be a book in it self which I would love to read! I also felt Ethan coming out as Bi was a but of a last minute add to the plot, it felt a bit force maybe, although the inclusion was nice. And I have to say how cute the end prologue was!!
.

Overall, a good romance! Cute, fun and a relaxing read. Would recommend.

"THE FUCKING UNIVERSE"

So. I loved getting the continuation of this story, but it was just a little messy at times. There were a lot of moments that really were cute for Ben and Arthur, even for the supporting cast. But, it was just a little all over the place at times. The re-introduction of the characters and their actual feelings for each other was just pulled out a bit too long, and the added dramatic beats with their respective partners was just....too much at times. The book really does start to shine in the third part when the fluff and filler starts to clear up and you get these two characters that have truly been meant for each other since the previous book. As much as I'd love to see this world and the supporting characters again, I think the epilogue ties this universe together.
