Loved this book. Answered some challenging questions about Christianity, definitely recommended for teen and tween readers.

This book is good for people with very little theological background, looking for a way to dip their toes into Christian living, but beyond that I would not recommend. I feel that, in trying to cover 10 very broad topics, McLaughlin severly sacrificed quality for quantity. Her chapters cover only the most basic (albeit important) Christian truths; if you've attended church for any amount of time, while it is important to be reminded of the simple things, you likely won't gain any new insights.

On a completely separate note, I also did not find her non-Biblical examples especially compelling. For one, many of her allusions to movies and book series did not perfectly fit the situation, and oftentimes served only to muddy her arguments. I also found her usage of extreme examples to support arguments that rarely go that far disingenuous.

The only reason I did not rate this book lower is because I did not find anything that struck me as theologically inaccurate, and for the most part Laughlin backs up her arguments with ample Biblical evidence. Still, I would much rather have spent this time with a different book.

This book is a great conversation starter for those who have questions about Christianity. The Harry Potter references were fun and helped me to think about some of these topics in a new way.

This book was incredible. It’s written at an easy reading level that can seem deceptively simple at first, but Rebecca McLaughlin has a gift for making a rock solid argument in this easy-to-understand language. I’m preparing to launch a Christian club at school with my friends and mentors, and I felt so well equipped by this book to answer questions that teens of our generation grapple with. Questions that used to confuse me about the character of God now convince me of His goodness and existence. I 1000% recommend reading this or giving it to agnostic friends! I pray this book blesses you and settles your whirring mind.

I found parts of this book a little bothersome (the part where she essentially called children stupid in particular), but other than that, it was pretty good! I loved her point about how we are all sinners, but Jesus still wants to know us and for us to know him.

Harry Potter but make it Jesus.
