Loved the imagery, adored it really.

The origin story was a bit triggering. I know , I know , what did I expect from a Harley Quinn story? I didn’t realize that this graphic novel was under the Black Label series so , ya know be aware of that going in.

Doesn’t take away from the illustrations, they were powerful and thought provoking. The story it self was just pretty sad and a little disturbing for me.

I did however really really enjoy Harvey Dents story that was infused in there.

Having read a few volumes of Sunstone from Sejic I was very curious to see how the dynamic of Harley/Joker would be handled. It was interesting, but also a little disappointing. There wasn't as much interaction between Harley and the Joker as I would expect in order for their bond to be the way it is; she became attached a little too quickly and her change in attitude around him prior to that was a bit quick as well. The art is really good though and getting to see Harley as Harleen and have her be more humanized and deepened as a character on her own was a nice change.

I liked it. Really makes Harleen the center with Batman and Joker being supporting characters and really dives into why Harley hooks up with the Joker without just making her a door mat (though in the animated series, Harley could be psychotically dangerous to the Joker).

And it does a good job of making you see why Harleen would want to be with the Joker by playing up that 'us against the world' thing they have in their relationship. And yeah, it really works. You can see why she falls in love with him without relying on her being deluded or something like that.

I liked the art too. Nice use of the panel layout and making the art part of the scene. Like the book does this thing where the right half of Joker's face and the left half of Harleen's face are lined up in panels that's quite effective. Or there's another scene where panels are arranged in the shape of Joker's bloody smile. Really takes advantage of the comic medium.

The most nuanced, authentic, and creative telling of Harley Quinn's origin that I have ever seen and/or read.
