I have to say, until we got to chapter 29 i was so close to giving this book a 3-4 star max rating because it truly just felt repetitive, which it was don't get me wrong, however it was repetitive so that the ending was truly hard-hitting. I cried... AGAIN because of this book (much likethe last one) which is something rare.  I will definitely be re-reading these books in the future, and maybe even pick up a copy for myself as a reminder of the journey Isabel Sterling has taken me on.

A pain to get through. The main character is completely intolerable and reckless—it seems each chapter she's making another stupid decision that leads to a character getting killed or getting their magic removed (and yet the only character she seems to care about is her girlfriend, and their relationship is so nonexistent, flimsy, and uncompelling that I'm sure two Barbies that sat on a store shelf for a few months would have a more interesting bond). Her complete disregard of her mother's grief and her obsession with putting herself in danger again and again was sickening—I couldn't imagine being so callous to a loved one.

It's this immaturity, along with the complete emotional absence of the only relationship that seems to matter to the MC (that of her "girlfriend"—again, laziest and most tell-don't-show romance I've seen in a long while, that while nominally sapphic is actually the type of cisheterosexual fare I'm disappointed to see. It is completely devoid of any actual connection besides us being told they love each other), that makes the book excruciating. I'm utterly let down by this paper-thin continuation, although not entirely surprised, as the plot is riddled with dumb character decisions and choices.

This compelling sequel follows Hannah as her and her coven deal with being tracked down by modern day witch hunters. The stakes are higher as
Spoiler the "cure" has been advanced and they are ready to take down witches across the country.

While a tiny bit predictable the book is fun and fast paced and I had to force myself to stop reading so I could get some sleep. Better than the first one without a doubt and introducing some new and fiesty characters to fill in for Veronica's college absence. A cauldron full of fun and excitement.

An easy, quick read. It went a little fan-fiction in book two with explosions and undercover operations, but the characters were still engaging and kept my attention.
