Ugh. Disjointed and confused. And plodding and even boring. With random characters appearing for no good reason. And lengthy unbelievable speechifying. Scarlet Witch and Rogue, both awful. With not especially good art. Disappointing.

++really like the concept of the twins.
-why they fighting with what their end goal is?
+Havoc and Captain scenes are good
+Wolverine inner struggles always good
-bit confusing for an Avengers newb like me
-/+sometimes the writing gets a bit corny, not always a bad thing.
++callbacks to uncanny xforce are nice

(If you're wondering why I read this after being pretty MEH about volume 1: I checked them both out from the library at the same time and then I couldn't renew them because someone else requested them, and this prompted me to move them to the top of my to-read pile. #libraryproblems)

anyway this was even more boring than volume 1, just full of all the kinds of stuff I care about least in comics (boring time travel and Apocalypse and huge world-ending business) and hardly any of the stuff I do care about (character development, humor, sass, etc).

Pretty much all I liked about this was WASP, please put Janet Van Dyne in some book that I care to read. And/or a WASP MOVIE, thank you goodbye.

This was okay, but I've read better. Nice to see Rogue, one of my favourites, getting some screentime, although she's woefully used in this, mostly to just bait Wanda it seems. The rest of this team has a lot of fractures through it too, splitting off completely in the middle of this collection into two opposing teams; can they even be called the Avengers? The storyline's not too difficult to follow, although there are a lot of extra characters floating in and out which, if I hadn't spent so much time on the Marvel wiki, I'd have had difficulty keeping track of.

The art's not bad, although I wouldn't rank it amongst the best. Sunfire's one of the better characters; Havok too, I'd be more invested in, although for the team leader, he doesn't get that much focus. I also rather like Eimin, and think she could be pretty interesting if she gets a bit more time focused on her specifically; her brother seems to take more of the focus out of the two Apocalpyse twins.

Much improvement over volume 1 with the storyline. Made me curious for volume 3.

I’ve got to say, at first I was skeptical of this one. They packed a lot of mythos into a tiny novel and at times it felt forced. There also seemed to be a lot of information that was told in other novels and was missing in this one so it was confusing. But by the end I was quickly reading each page and hurrying to the next. It ended in a way that makes me want to read the next one immediately.
