I really enjoyed the book because its dialogue effectively conveyed both humor and the darkness of the story.

The way these characters are woven together and constantly growing is outstanding.

Jenny and her boyfriend Jesse break into a house to steal a prescription. They do not expect to be caught. When the owner catches them in the house he has no intention of letting them get away with stealing from him.

Ben Packard is returning to town after a few tragedies of his own. Finding these teenagers is at the top of his priorities. It makes it a little more urgent knowing it's his cousins daughter.

As the story progresses we hear of the drug problems that this small town is facing, like most of the US right now. The lengths that some will go to in order to cover up their own crimes. The lengths some will go to save their family and others won't go to for theirs. The family dynamics in this book were really interesting. It seemed to cover a lot of ranges.

This book was compelling from the start and kept you drawn in. Small town big mysteries will always be a hook for me. The twist, turns, and connections to everyone and everything will always leave little shock but strong entertainment.
The story wasn’t really a mystery everything was out in the open pretty quickly but I couldn’t help but continue turning the pages

The story got right into everything and I really appreciate the speed in which the events transpired. I love that this is an LGBTQ+ inclusive book. I loved Gary and Cora, their back and forth was funny.

I wasn't sure if I would like the audiobook narrator, but I ended up really enjoying Linda Jones' narration. I loved Joshua Moehling's writing as well and look forward to reading more by them!
