loved reading this so much. every part of it. from reading about his tumultuous childhood and struggles to get out of the french military to reading about how he felt at every moment of his career, especially how anxious and discouraged he felt constantly, it all felt very important. i especially loved his communications with helen scott, robert lachenay, and annette insdorff, who seemed like such treasured friends in his life and with whom he had endlessly informative discussions about films and books and what the environment of french cinema was between the 50s and the 80s. cannot wait to revisit this throughout my own career as a filmmaker, i just find truffaut so inspiring and i love the care he put into his writing.
