I finished this last night and although I really enjoyed it - the read was fast paced, I liked how it was written and the structure of the book, something just felt off to me. I was always waiting for something more to happen but it never came. I did think the plot was interesting and I liked seeing it written from a British school standpoint opposed to American because we Brits don’t have drills like this when an active shooter is on sight - it isn’t a normal thing or even a high possibility. Overall, the writing was good, the characters were layered and it was an average read.

I struggled a little with the constant changes of writing style, but the story itself was very captivating, and this made the book hard to put down.

Copy kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I hate to DNF a book, but unfortunately in this case, I just wasn't feeling this one. I was very kindly given a review copy through NG and, I think the idea of this book is a really great one, and I'm sure other people will like this. It just wasn't for me. I think thats because of the way its written - the story is told through the form of interviews and chats between friends, and a little bit of what happened at the time. So while this isn't my kind of writing style, I'm sure other people will enjoy this, because the idea of the storyline itself is a good one.
