The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants but with a wedding dress! I was immediately enamored with the premise of this book. I will admit that it took me about 50 or so pages to get into it, but once I did, I found myself so invested in the characters and their relationships. Lauren Jameson, famous author, has finally found the one, but accepting his proposal means taking him home to meet her mother Kendra and estranged best friend Bree. As Lauren struggles to reconnect with her best friend, a bombshell is dropped on her life that puts her at odds with her mother as well. Can the three women find their way back to each other in time for Lauren to wear THE DRESS and say "I do"?

Overall this story was fine, I'd have liked to hear more about what happened in the past.
SpoilerBree never really delved into why she dated her best friend's ex. Idc if they're broken up, that's your best friend! Also, I wanted more of a showdown between Bree and Clay.

My Review Of

My Ex-Best Friend's Wedding

I quickly slipped into a world of ex-best friends, a small picturesque beach town and a book of secrets and forgiveness. Lauren, a very successful author, Bree a would be author and book store owner and Kendra, mother to Lauren and mother like to Bree.

Lauren and Bree have not really spoken in decades, ever since Bree backed out last minute on a lifetime dream of moving to New York City with Lauren where they both would become successful authors. Lauren has never forgiven Bree and Bree holds her own grudge against Lauren.

When Lauren becomes engaged to Spencer, the perfect man in my opinion, Lauren heads back home to the Outer Banks with Spencer.

What awaits Lauren is a huge surprise about her past and some truths about her friendship with Bree. I inhaled this book and pictured each and every scene in my mind. The characters really seemed so lifelike that I hated for this book to end!

I was rooting for Lauren and Bree to become friends again and for Kendra to come to terms with a past that she left behind long ago. Bree seemed to struggle in so many areas of her life and Lauren needed to come to terms with a betrayal so deep I felt that they could really use each other to lean on.

I loved this book, the characters , the setting and the story line. I honestly feel like I made a whole new set of friends!

I always anxiously await Wendy’s newest releases and this one didn’t disappoint. She does an amazing job writing familial relationships and friendships. I couldn’t put the book down.

I've been hearing good things about this one, so I picked it up. Lauren and Bree we're best friends since they discovered that they had the same birthday when they were in kindergarten. But when they graduate, Bree bows out of their plan to move to NYC and become famous authors. Then Lauren takes the book idea and outline that they developed together and turns it into a best seller. Now it's 20 years later and they're meeting again.

This was a nice, fun, beach read kind of book. I've decided that I need more of these beachy reads in my life and what better time to read them than in the middle of summer? I would recommend this one if that's what you're looking for.

2.75

2.75 stars - it’s fine, nothing is WRONG with it, but gosh is it a snoozefest and so repetitive. Also, the descriptions of the Outer Banks read like the characters were reading out of a guidebook.

It took me 2 chapters to love this book. I spent 4 years of my life living on the Outer Banks, so I would say I have a small knowledge of it. But when I read that one of the characters lived in Manteo, and the majority of the book takes place on the island with Nags Head and Kitty Hawk, I was sold. I really appreciated how right Wendy Wax got the Outer Banks. She made jokes about radio commercials that still play, and she talked about restaurants that actually exist, something she could have easily phoned in. The story is nothing to write home about honestly. It’s just a fun and typical rom com/ friendship story. It’s not bad, but nothing super impressive. You get what you pay for honestly. If you are in the mood for something fun and not deep, this is your book. I am learning that its okay to just love books that don’t have to touch me in someway. I loved this book not because the story spoke to me on some deep level. I loved it because she honored the place I called home for 4 years. I know many authors who pick a location and just phone it it in ( and as much as I enjoy Nicholas Sparks, he’s very guilty of this.) and this was just such a nice tribute. I honestly thought of my mom a lot when I read this, as she still lives there and there is a character in this book who is close to her age, and that just made me smile. I could put my mom in place of the mom in the book and just see her walking on the beach and enjoying living so close to the water. Maybe that was the thing I needed from this book, the ability to feel my mom around when she’s far away.

This isn’t a book that is going to blow your mind or anything. It’s a fun read that will take you to the beach for awhile, and have you laughing with the characters. I bumped up the rating to a 4/5 , mostly because I had a huge connection to the location, I think most people would give this a 3/5.
