Some great practical advice for simplifying and slowing down

This book walks its talk - keeping simplicity at its heart. Gentle advice and helpful suggestions for finding nourishing rhythms and rituals that open up space in our hearts and minds to let the good stuff in,we just have to pay attention.

This book is about 2.5 stars, but I rounded up to three because it was more enjoyable than a chore. It was just an incredibly simple read. I read this book in three, short sittings. While I enjoyed the topics that were covered in the book, they were very short (which is fine), but I would have liked a more thorough "application" at the end that ties all the topics together. McAlary does this with each chapter, adding on to what we've learned previously, but I would have liked a more comprehensive ending that applies everything we've learned. The topics are simple, such as unplugging, mindfulness, and gratitude, for example. For anyone who reads self-care books, the topics aren't new, but I did like how McAlary divided it into three, easy to understand parts.
Despite what other readers are saying, that the simplicity of this novel is too simple and a chore to get through, I always enjoy reminders to get back to the basics because I do feel like we try to over-complicate things sometimes. Self-care should be made simple.
I like that McAlary broke it down into simple parts. However, due to the fact that I have read a lot about self-care, many of the concepts were not new to me, they were only structured and presented differently. That is the reason why I only gave it 3 stars in the end, but I can see someone new to this area really enjoying the simplicity of this book. A good book for beginners to the area of self-care.

At 128 pages, this is the ideal length for this type of book. So many lifestyle books I’ve picked up and later abandoned should be this short but pad themselves out to 400 by adding a ton of random fluff

A slim volume consisting of heartfelt, practical suggestions for slowing down and simplifying one's life in an increasingly busy and complex world. The exercises are very nice: well-conceived, clearly stated, and reassuringly presented. I will likely return to this book from time to time for a tune-up when I start to feel off-balance and overwhelmed.

Твърде кратка, елементарна и повърхностна книга.

I enjoyed the simplicity on this book (I know, but it's true).

Brooke provides some useful tips and ideas to help anyone to move towards a simpler life.

No the content isn't ground breaking but definitely a refreshing reminder on what you are missing in your life.
